Zohran Mamdani Promises a 'Dawn' for The Big Apple in Inaugural Address
On his first day in office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “reimagine” New York City, ushering in “a fresh chapter” and an ambitious beginning to his term.
A Groundbreaking Figure
The young figure, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, has become the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the first to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
“A time such as this is rare and even more uncommon is it that the public whose hands are upon the controls for transformation,” Mamdani added.
Defying suggestions to lower expectations, the mayor declared: “I will do no such thing. The only expectation I seek to reset is that of limited ambitions. Beginning today we will rule expansively and audaciously.”
